At the December 2025 meeting, the Chocolay Township Board voted to increase the Residential Equivalent User (REU) rate from $54.00/month to $74.50/month. This is in response to a Utility Rate Study commissioned by GEI Consultants which highlighted shortfalls within the sewer budget. The sewer rates have not been adjusted since their adoption seven years ago; over that time, cumulative inflation is in the range of 30%. Typically, one REU equals one single family dwelling. Other users may have a higher REU rate.
This rate will take effect with the January 2026 billing, which will be mailed out the first week of February. If you have auto bill pay through your bank, please make sure you update your information accordingly.
